School pickup safety system: Three apps for parents, staff and security

An MVP that runs school pickup end to end: parents announce arrival only when they're near school, staff dispatch children, and security confirms each handover.

Project Goals

At pickup time, schools need to know which parent is actually outside, release each child to the right adult, and stop everything if something goes wrong. Paper lists and radios don't scale, and a single app for everyone gets confusing because parents, supervisors and security staff each do something different.

The Result

We built three Flutter apps on one shared data model, with each school's data kept separate. The parent app only enables "I have arrived" within 100 meters of the school, checked by geolocation, and tracks each child's status. Supervisors get a dispatch dashboard with hold and emergency freeze, plus student, class, staff and announcement management. Security staff see the pickup queue, scan for nearby parents over Bluetooth with short-lived tokens, and log incidents. This was an MVP: PIN and QR verification and server-side functions were next on the list.
